Eight Cool (Free) Louisville Apps for Android

Take advantage of these locally focused apps when you are looking for something fun to do, trying to get through gnarly traffic, checking on your favorite sports teams, and local flavor. These apps are highly rated in the Google Play store and frequently updated by their developers (check for compatibility with your device).

Louisville Metro

Find nearby parks and check their amenities, get updates on local events and news, double-check restaurant inspection scores (and then find the quickest route to get to your selection) and lots more on this multi-faceted app. The Louisville Loop is featured, with videos and photos. Upload your Loop photos to share with others.

Louisville Free Public Library (LFPL)

Dig into the LFPL catalog and monitor your library account. You can browse, reserve and renew items and get info on upcoming events.

Cameras Louisville & Kentucky

Eighty-plus camera feeds from Louisville and Southern Indiana come together in this app. Most are traffic cams, with a few other webcams thrown in. Groups make it easy to zero in on one area.

Louisville Map and Walks

This could be fun when out-of-town visitors come to stay and you want to get them out and exploring while you take care of a few things. Tours – try Butchertown Neighborhood or Highlands Bars and Pubs – link sights with detailed door-to-door directions. Can be used either with or without GPS functions.

Louisville Bats

It’s all Bats, all the time, with this app, including year-round news headlines and ticket purchases.

Louisville College Sports WHAS

Overdose on U of L sports videos, stats, schedules and standings, plus more from the NCAA and Big East, all in one place.

Louisville Traffic from WHAS

WHAS scores again with a robust app covering more than just local traffic. Traffic cams, speed maps and crowdsourced info from road warriors – plus where to find the cheapest gas in town.

Louisville Weather WAVE 3

This app goes with me everywhere, displaying a little current temperature icon on my smartphone home display. That’ll usually get me through, but a quick look within gives you daily and longer forecasts, radar, and tons more for weather geeks. Severe weather alerts are a handy addition.
