This year flew by, didn’t it? We laughed, we cried, we persevered. Hell, we survived an apocalypse a mere week ago! (A pretty lame one, if I do say so myself.) We should be proud of what we accomplished in 2012, and we should treat ourselves before a new year begins. That’s where La Coop comes in!

This Monday, December 31st, La Coop’s Executive Chef, Bobby Benjamin, will be preparing a special 8-course New Year’s Eve tasting menu that will showcase the season’s finest ingredients.

The menu:

 

Black-Eyed Pea Fritters

Tomato jam

Wine - Champagne Yvette Cocktail

Beer - Kronenbourg Carthusian Shandy

 

Bacon and Eggs

Pork belly, poached egg, pear-lemon butter, bourbon cured spoonfish caviar and shaved black truffle

Wine - Dolin “Blanc” Vermouth

Beer - La Choulette Blonde Ale

 

Lobster Risotto

Parmesan cheese, foraged mushrooms, tropical spinach and tatsoi

Wine - 2011 Feuillarde, Cuvée Tradition, St. Veran

Beer - St. Sylvestre “Gavroche” Red Ale

 

Roasted Parsnip Soup

Red Russian kale, plantain chips, spiced pecans and cilantro

Wine - 2007 Trimbach “Reserve,” Pinot Gris

Beer - Val-Dieu “Grand Cru” Quadrupel Ale

 

Beef Tenderloin Confit

Seared duck fat cured beef tenderloin, butternut squash ravioli, Brussels sprout trifecta, caramelized truffled onion and bone marrow jelly

Wine - 2002 Chateau Bernadotte, Haut Medoc

Beer - De Ranke “Noir de Dottignies” Dark Ale

 

Spicy Mixed Greens

Mizuna, red mustard and arugula greens, Belgian endive marmalade, watermelon radish, onion chips and juniper berry balsamic

Wine - 2011 Chateau d’Esclans “Whispering Angel” Provence Rosé

Beer - Cuvée de Ranke Sour Saison

 

Cheese Plate

Capriole Farms “Sofia” goat cheese, braised red beet and orange confit

Wine - “Vin de Noix” Vin Maison

Beer – Brouwerij Kerkom “Bink Bloesem” (Pear & Honey) Ale

 

Pot de Crème Brûlée

Chocolate pot de crème, crème brûlée, pistachio cream and vanilla cone

Wine - 2009 Mas Amiel, Maury

Beer - Boon “Kriek” Lambic

 

Tickets are $75 each, plus tax and gratuities, with the option of wine or beer pairings. Wine pairings are an additional $50 per head, and beer pairings are an extra $25 per person.

There will be 2 services: one at 6 PM and one at 8:30 PM. Seating is by reservation. Please call (502) 410-2888 to ensure your spot!

La Coop serves casual French comfort food with a Southern twist. It opened in April of this year in NuLu, and has since received much critical acclaim, including 4 stars from the Courier Journal. Chef Benjamin has given several cooking demonstrations on WHAS 11’s Great Day Live since the restaurant opened.
