Exciting vegetarian fare at Dragon King’s Daughter

Being a vegetarian would be difficult. I tried to change over a couple times, but y’know… bacon. However, I have a tremendous amount of respect for vegetarians, and I like to see places where they are truly taken care of as far as menu selection goes. Most places offer a veggie burger and call it a day, but the Dragon King’s Daughter really gave some thought to coming up with an impressive selection of items that are not only numerous but downright exciting. I love to eat meat, but I WANTED to try many of these totally vegetarian options.

After a long time with the menu, I chose two vegetarian dishes: the “Avocado Tempura Roll”, which contained tempura-fried avocado, crushed walnuts, and a mango-chili sauce; and the “Lobo Peludo” (Hairy Wolf) roll, which contained tofu tempura, jalapeno, spring mix, basil, and avocado with a teriyaki drizzle. Both were $8 each. The avocado roll was very good. It needed a bit of salt, but the combination of smooth avocado with the nice crunch and bitterness from the walnuts was really nice with the sweet mango sauce. The star, though, was the Lobo Peludo roll, which was amusing to say when I ordered. I’ve never tasted anything like it. The flavor combination was genuinely a new taste sensation to me, which doesn’t happen often. It was spicy, sweet, fresh, smooth, warm, and cool all at the same time. Very well done. I’m a fan.

The Dragon King’s Daughter has been getting a great deal of attention lately, and now that I’ve visited, I see why! The menu is impressively creative. Exciting. There is a pronounced mixture of Eastern and Western influences throughout, including some Italian touches. Clearly, someone had a great deal of fun coming up with the food served at this place, and I can certainly appreciate that. I should add that this place offers many carnivorous options, too!

Here is a short list of some of the dishes that caught my eye for future visits:

+ Fresh Wasabi Salsa with fried wonton chips

+ “Coco Caliente”Roll – spicy tofu and roasted garlic inside, roasted red peppers, lime, and hot sauce outside

     + Tempura-fried “Oreo Roll”

     + “Mango Dessert Roll”

A new location is opening soon in New Albany! (202 East Elm)

This place is very cool, and I can tell that it’s only gonna get cooler. :) Check them out!
