To those familiar with the arc of Tinsley Mortimer's life, the plot of her debut novel, Southern Charm, may sound a little familiar: the heroine, Minty Davenport, is a frilly Southern belle who moves from her small hometown in South Carolina to the Big Apple in search of glamor and glitz, only to become the new "It Girl" after she is photographed for a fashion magazine. Mortimer, it seems, who is known for her line of fashion handbags and socialite lifestyle, has written an autobiography of sorts. This Friday, May 4, the budding fiction author will be at the Galt House from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., to promote what she is calling a "modern Manhattan fairy tale with the sparkle of a champagne cocktail."
Escape the Oaks Day buzz for a spell and enjoy complimentary beauty services provided by Xhale Salon and Spa, located on the 17th floor of the Galt House Hotel. Expect signature cocktails courtesy of HPNOTIQ Harmonie liquor and traditional Southern snacks. Have Ms. Mortimer herself sign your copy of her book, which the New York Times is calling "a pink Laduree macaroon of a novel," and judge for yourself how fictional this delectable tale truly is.
The Galt House Hotel is located at 140 N. Fourth Street. For questions, call 589-5200.
