Ladies and gentlemen, it is fixing to be a busy weekend at the Floyd Theater, the cozy, comfortable, and affordable movie theater located in the Student Activities Center in the heart of the University of Louisville campus. We have not one, not two, but three events, two of them quite particularly special, so let's get right into it:

It starts tonight, Thursday, with a double screening of the new anthology film Movie 43

. Dennis Quaid plays Charlie Wessler, a screenwriter attempting to pitch a film to producer Griffin Schraeder (Greg Kinnear). What follows is a series of increasingly insane stories from the aforementioned script, with each segment helmed by a different director, including the likes of James Gunn, Elizabeth Banks, Brett Ratner, and Peter Farrelly.

    Movie 43

will be screened tonight at 5:00 and 8:00.

Next up: it's Easter weekend, so the Floyd is presenting a very special film just for the occasion:

    The Last Temptation of Christ

, Martin Scorsese's masterpiece and my personal favorite Jesus movie. Based on the novel by Nikos Kazantzakis, the always-great Willem Defoe plays Jesus as he is portrayed as, yes, the Son of God, but also a mortal man who has to face and overcome very real temptations – especially during his final hours on the cross, in a sequence that severely pissed off all the Catholics who never saw the film (true story). Look for a special cameo by the one and only David Bowie as Pontius Pilate.

    The Last Temptation of Christ

will be shown Friday and Saturday at 5:00 and 8:00.

Finally, you may have heard of a little show going around with something of a cult following called

    The Walking Dead

. The first season was met with great acclaim and its fan base has only grown since, to the point where most of my friends aren't available Sunday nights anymore because they're too busy watching this show. Season three is drawing to a close, and the finale will be aired this Sunday at the Floyd at 8:45.

The Floyd Theater is located on the third floor of the Student Activities Center on the U of L campus. Admission is $1.50 for students and $3 for the general public. Further information can be found at the Floyd Theater Facebook page.
