Unless you fell into a sink hole this weekend and barely escaped only to emerge in the sunrise of Monday morning, Louisville sports occupied every ounce of energy and drive maintaining some semblance of sanity in the midst of March Madness.  Here are four things you missed while the madness of the men’s NCAA tournament controlled every TV within a 10-mile distance of you this weekend.

    1. The Louisville women’s basketball team, who are coming off of a tournament championship appearance last year, opened this year’s NCAA tournament with a victory over Idaho.  The third seeded Cardinals ended 88-42 against Idaho.  Jon Newlee, Idaho’s head coach said after the game, “they're a great basketball team. I said they should be a number one seed. They didn't do anything out there to disprove that.”  Go Cards!

    2. As spring practice for the Cardinal football team began, Petrino said, “Offensively, we have shown the ability to be explosive and make some big plays. We are giving up way too many negative plays with assignment errors and blocking schemes. We have some young guys on the offensive front that are getting schooled, but they are getting better.”

    3. So you thought you had a chance at winning Warren Buffet’s bracket challenge for a billion dollars? Nice try.  The madness of the NCAA tournament wins because there is no one left with a perfect bracket.

    4. The first ever Hunting Expo in Louisville this weekend attracted thousands.  I know what you’re thinking, but hey, hunting is a sport, too.  If you missed this year’s Hunting expo, next year’s event will sure to host even more expert Kentuckians in the woods.
