Wouldn’t it be great to get healthy, delectable, organic food delivered to your door while you work? Like the tooth fairy, but for overworked and underpaid adults trying to get healthier? And how great would it be to get a big giant bunch of fruits and veggies for $35.00 flat? How about $17.00? Green B.E.A.N. Kentucky is a food delivery company that specializes in organic and locally grown produce. For more about this company and how the process works, read my article here.
Green B.E.A.N. was gracious enough to invite me to try one of the $35.00 bins of fruits and vegetables, and I got to pick what went into the bin. I got a tangelo, a crunchy, spicy pear, a mango, a bunch of kale, four Portobello mushrooms, a lemon, a pound of strawberries, a pint of mini sweet peppers, an avocado, a ginger root, and six ounces of Shitake mushrooms, delivered to the door in a big green plastic bin with a cool pack inside. To nobody’s surprise, organic and local produce really does taste better, (although, a word of warning. You don’t want to save this stuff, eat is as soon as possible. Without all the icky chemicals sprayed on them, my mango and avocado ripened really fast). The strawberries tasted like the strawberries we used to grow ourselves, sun warmed and bursting with ripe scarlet flavor. The mushrooms were meaty and flawless grilled with a little olive oil and chopped sweet peppers. I have never tasted ginger this strong and zesty, like it was just dug from the cool earth and plunked at my doorstep. I cooked dinner for my family several times using the Green B.E.A.N. produce and they agreed with me: super fresh, super fantastic.
Green B.E.A.N.’s service is convenient and much needed in our world of pink slime chicken nuggets and ten hour work days. To encourage you to try this service, use the coupon code EOLapc when ordering your first bin for 50% off! Think about all the gorgeous unsullied food you can get for only $17.00, delivered to your door! This coupon is only good for seven days after this article posts (March 12th through the 17th) so hurry!
