Friday the 13th proves lucky for Ballard Bruins

Going into their first home game Friday night the Ballard Bruins, coming off loses at Collins and St. X came into their stadium with a certain fire as they took on the Western Warriors.

The game opened with a plethora of possession changes and a back and forth game which looked more like rugby than football, however it didn’t take too long to realize that the game was going to come down to Ballard’s superior passing vs. Western’s superior rushing, and how each team’s defense would respond.

Early on in fact, the Warriors appeared to have the edge with several running backs who continually outquicked the Bruins in several key plays in the first half; this was ended however after some adjustments from the Bruins led to some substantial hits to these backs, ostensibly shutting them down and allowing Ballard to commence with their air attack, which Western was unable to stop in the long run.

This game marked Western’s third loss of the season, as they currently have an 0-3 record (losses to Meade County, Butler, and Ballard) they hope to turn this around on Friday as they square off against Central at home. Consequently, Central suffered their own loss on Friday against Doss, however they previously defeated Eastern and Lafayette, but suffered a loss in their opening game against Manual.

Speaking of Manual, they’ll meet Ballard on Friday as the Bruins attempt to keep their momentum going against an undefeated Rams team, in addition to Central; Manual has defeated Fern Creek and Pleasure Ridge Park.
