It doesn't happen all the time that one of the biggest bands in America hails from your hometown. As Louisvillians, we're lucky that way. My Morning Jacket kicks off their full support tour for the excellent "Evil Urges" album at our own Waterfront Park on August 16.
As part of the experience, www.louisville.com (along with the band) are hosting a Local Village replete with some of the most familiar names around our city that help to make it such a unique place to live. Local brews, local grub, local retailers and local organizations that help keep us "weird" will populate a large area on the Western edge of the Great Lawn.
Gates to the venue open at 6:30 so concert goers can grab their real estate, a coldie, and show their support to the Village residents. For our part, louisville.com will have a slew of t-shirts for those who enjoy staying covered up on a hot summer eve. We're also working with band managment on a fundraising effort for the Louisville Leopards who will be opening the show. For more information on the show and the events surrounding it, see www.louisville.com/section/mymorningjacket..
Tickets are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com.
