Gilt.com Retail Outlet Pop-Up Shop

Luxury retailer GILT.com will be opening an outlet store in Louisville on April 25, running through May 21th. Coveted designer brands such as Missoni, Jonathan Adler, Jacadi for kids and more will be available—all at up to 90% retail price. Just like our online site, the store will feature women's, men's, and kids' clothing and accessories, baby gear, home goods, and much more! The Gilt.com Designer Outlet will only be open for one month.

Not sure what Gilt.com is? Wondering why they chose Louisville for their pop-up shop? Check out their quick Q&A below, and be on the look out for my review of their latest pop-up shop location tomorrow. My bank account is already not happy with me.

Why Louisville? Why a pop-up?

We couldn't think of a better place than Louisville, as we are already deeply steeped in the market with our largest distribution center in nearby Shepherdsville so it gives us instant access to inventory which is why we thought it made sense for us to provide the opportunity, and extend the shopping experience for a longer period of time.  We have seen such success with our 2-day Gilt City Warehouse Sales, which travel to our top markets bi-annually.  We really wanted to bring the Gilt.com online experience to life, and a month-long designer outlet is a great way to do that.

Is this (pop-ups) part of a national trend for Gilt?

We felt the Gilt.com Designer Outlet was a great way for us to bring Gilt to life for our customers in Kentucky.  We host Gilt City warehouses across the country and will continue to do so!

Might it lead to a more permanent retail installation?

At this point, we do not have plans for a permanent retail installation.

What will the store look like, feel like? how will it represent the Gilt brand?

We're a lifestyle brand and you'll be able to shop all of our categories from women's and men's to home and children.  There will be hundreds of racks with thousands of items from our top designer brands including styles by Zac Posen, Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka, and Missoni. Not to mention Shipley & Halmos, Ben Sherman, and John Varvatos on the mens front.

And we'll have an enormous selection of home items.

At Gilt, we love bringing you the best brands at the best prices and that's exactly what we have done here with theGilt.com Designer Outlet.  And for only the second time ever, we are bringing this not-to-be-missed local shopping experience to Louisville.

Is this primarily a showroom, or full retail?

This is a full retail space.  Everything will be up for grabs.

Primarily wondering, why a bricks-and-mortar presence makes sense for a web-focused company like Gilt?

We have seen such success with our 2-day Gilt City Warehouse Sales, which travel to our top markets bi-annually.   We really wanted to bring the Gilt.com online experience to life, and Louisville seemed like a great place to do this, as we are already deeply steeped in the market with our largest distribution center in nearby Shepherdsville so it gives us instant access to inventory which is why we thought it made sense for us to provide the opportunity in the region.  With our distribution center right there it also made it easier to provide an extended shopping experience for a longer period of time.

Is it a good way to get rid of excess inventory?

It's a great offline opportunity for us to connect with our members.  I think that the people who are drawn to Gilt are very savvy shoppers. They’re always going to be able to find the gem and they will be well served at this sale.

Is it a savvy way to boost brand-awareness/membership in the South?

We actually already have a large member-base in the south but it definitely gives us the opportunity to engage our member in person.  Plus it's a great way for us to continue to be part of the local retail market and community.

Does the company plan to do more sort of "pop-up" shops like this in the future?

We host Gilt City warehouses across the country and will continue to do so.

Has it considered a more permanent bricks-and-mortar presence?

At this point, we do not have plans for a permanent retail installation.

Store hours are as follows:
