"I'm in love, yes, I'm in love with that girl. I don't care what people say, people say.. 'Cause I'm in love with that girl" - Justin Timberlake, "That Girl", 2013.
It’s not every day that a woman is proposed to in front of 22,000 people, or with the help of Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake. But, for Kim Martin, this is just another Sunday. “’That Girl’ is Josh’s song to me,” Kim said.
Kim Martin and Joshua Clemons’ story began when they met each other at work. When asked if Kim ever thought they would become a couple, she said, “I had hoped. There were lots of mutual feelings and attraction.”
Kim and Joshua were given tickets to the concert by Joshua’s grandparents as a gift for his birthday, which happened to be on the day of the concert. Despite the lucky events that happened throughout the concert, like being taken by Justin’s manager from seats in third level seating down to the VIP lounge, or being asked to come on stage by Justin during the concert, Kim had no idea what was going to happen. “[I] Just thought we were going to get to sing with him or something,” she said. “It was Josh’s birthday and I thought he was having amazing luck.”
What happened next has been covered by CBS News, New York Daily News, MTV.com, Los Angeles Times, and E! Online. Josh got down on one knee and proposed. Of course she said yes! Watch the video here: Louisville Proposal
Kim and Joshua, both Justin Timberlake fans, plan to dance to a song of his on their wedding day. “I don’t know which one yet, but “That Girl” will definitely be played. “’That Girl’ is Josh’s song to me.”
I told Kim that because of Josh’s persistence and all he did to insure his marriage proposal was perfect, my standards and a lot of women’s worldwide were now raised. She replied with, “I’m sorry!” and laughed endearingly.
In regards to the media attention the proposal is getting, Kim said, “It’s a great story and I think it’s wonderful everyone wants to hear it. I am so very lucky. Josh is an amazing man and I am so excited I get to marry my best friend.”
