Officials from the University of Louisville are reporting that security has been heightened after an alleged threat was made to bring an armed weapon to the campus.

Mark Hebert, a spokeman for the university, confirmed to local news station WHAS11 that there was indeed an online post regarding a threat to bring a gun to the campus. As to what the alleged suspect was intending to do with the weapon, it is not yet known.

A text alert was blasted out to students, faculty and staff by U of L officials on Thursday morning. The alert informed the staff and students of the alleged threat and that heightened security measures were being taken and stated that classes would continue as scheduled.

Upon perusing the Twitter updates from students around campus, students seem concerned, but rational.

One student says via Twitter:

"There's a threat that some1 is bringing a gun to class today at U of L? I'm staying in my room<WOAH which campus??"

Another reads:

"Well just got a campus alert that a man might be on campus with a gun and I'm just chilling in class."

An investigation is underway at the U of L campus and further information about the threat is expected soon.
