WHY: To raise funds for St. Vincent de Paul’s mission to help the poor and in our community with basic necessities – food, clothing, shelter, utility assistance, transportation and emotional comfort.
St. Vincent de Paul is the world’s largest Catholic, lay charitable organization serving the poor. Here in Louisville, in addition to its downtown campus of homeless shelters, housing programs and a community kitchen in the Smoketown/Shelby Park neighborhood, St. Vincent de Paul serves people throughout the region through a network of parish-based conferences.
St. Raphael is one of St. Vincent de Paul’s 48 conferences. Volunteers in these conferences are trained lay people from all walks of life who minister to the needy and suffering in a spirit of justice and charity. Through in-home visits, volunteers help those in need with the basic necessities -- food, clothing, shelter, utility assistance, transportation and emotional comfort.
