Three notable “healthy Louisville” events will be occurring Saturday morning. One for a good cause, one for the city as a whole, and one just for fun these three civic minded events provide ways for families to get out and do something good for themselves and the city as a whole this weekend.
Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Hike
In the city’s continued efforts to provide healthy and family-friendly activities for residents, this Saturday mayor Greg Fischer will host Louisville’s seventh annual fall hike.
Beginning at 10 a.m. the event is free to the public and is set to occur at Jefferson Memorial Forest. More than experiencing what the park has to offer other activities including pumpkin picking, hay rides, kids’ activities, and various other outdoor Autumn activities will be available.
Also, in an effort to get people out early, the first five hundred individuals there will receive free t-shirts commemorating the event.
Stampede for VIPS
Meanwhile, Papa Johns’ Cardinal Stadium will be hosting their own outdoor event with the ninth 5K for Visually Impaired Pre-School Services, or Stampede for VIPS.
The race is set to commence at 9:30 a.m., and hopes to raise funding and awareness for visually impaired children. Those on the track will be trying to collect donations to the cause. Currently, registration is $30 and “day of” registration is set to begin at 7 a.m.
Awards and prizes will also be given out in this event held by Dr. Mark Lynn and Associates.
People are welcomed to register for the event at their website here.
Germantown Shotgun Fest
Don’t let the name throw you this event is certainly not just for gun enthusiasts.
At the St. Therese Gym parking lot patrons are invited to come out and enjoy a day of festivities beginning at 12 p.m. Included in the festivities are a local art fair, a record swap show, as well as stuff for kids.
In addition live music will be the norm throughout the day as well as various other fair style attractions.
