Accomplished at the accordion, piano, guitar, and musical saw, Kaelin has played with an impressive roster of artists, including Elvis Costello & the Imposters, Seven Mary Three, Maceo Parker, Shannon Lawson, Love Jones, Peter Searcy, Bob Schneider, and Patty Loveless. But she has also released two fine solo albums, 2006's Secrets and West 28th Street in 2008.
Her songwriting is often humorous and always smart, and her songs are played with excellent musicianship; maybe think of her as the Americana female version of Barenaked Ladies. But her music is not strictly a country variety or even just Americana. For example, Secrets and Ballad of Motorcycle Joe are serious, piano-based pop songs while Future Mr. Used-to-Be and Blue Driedel No. 9 are funny and infectious, well, ditties.
And if all of this wasn't enough, she's a fan of the metric system and can yodel with the best of them.
Kaelin will be performing Saturday July 24 on the Budweiser stage at 1:45.
