Humana Festival brings 10-Minute Plays to the stage [Theater]

Print

The Humana Festival continues this weekend with two evenings of 10-minute plays. The shows will all be performed in the Pamela Brown Auditorium in the Actors Theatre complex.

Spanning a wide range of genres, the plays are sure to broaden the horizons of the average Louisvillian theatre-goer. From a comedy about pets and their owners in Mr. Smitten to an intriguing event where the main character gets sent home from school with a parasite growing out of her head in Hygiene, these shows are a bit outside the typical scope. Add to the lineup a choreopoem (incorporating both movement and poetic verse) depicting the connection between an East African genocide and a Midwestern homicide in Chicago, Sudan, and you’re set for quite the thought provoking evening.

The works were written by Marc Bamuthi Joseph, Gregory Hischak and Laura Eason and are produced as part of the Humana Festival of New American Plays.

The 10-Minute Play Festival will be performed this Saturday at 9:00pm and Sunday at 4:30pm. Tickets are $37.00 online or at the Actor’s Theatre box office (502) 584-1205.
