Humana plays in ten minutes or less [Theater]

The 35th Annual Humana Festival of New American Plays will end its run with performances of original ten minute plays this weekend.

The Ten-Minute Plays performances will take place on Saturday, April 2, at 9 p.m., and Sunday, April 3, at 4:30 p.m.  All shows will go on at the Pamela Brown Auditorium at Actors Theatre, located in downtown Louisville at 316 West Main Street.

Tickets for the shows are $37 per person.  All tickets can be purchased at the Actors Theatre website, the Actors Theatre box office, or by calling the box office at 502-584-1205.  More information on the show can also be found at the Actors Theatre website.

The Ten-Minute Plays will include a variety of styles, from comedy to a choreopoem.  Chicago, Sudan, brings a correlation between genocide in the East Africa region and a homicide in the Midwest. Marc Bamuthi Joseph created and will perform the piece. Michael John Garces directed the production.

A dysfuctional family forms the center of the next production, Hygiene, which shows Wendy coming home with a parasite in her head.  Gregory Hischak created Hygiene, which Kent Nicholson directed.

Nicholson also directed the Laura Eason-created Mr. Smitten.  In this comedy, Anna finds herself getting hysterical and then being comforted and connecting with strangers after learning her cat is passing away.
