ear X-tacy Records has a history of presenting independent artists and businesses around the official Independence Day holiday (a huge in-store appearance by the Foo Fighters comes to mind), but for the past three years, the holiday has also been celebrated by a gathering of independent businesses. John Timmons, owner/president of ear X-tacy, is also the founder of the Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA) and consistently looks for ways to promote locally-owned, independent businesses and artists, over twenty of which will be represented at this year's annual Indie Day event, Saturday, July 4th at ear X-tacy, 1534 Bardstown Road. The event, which takes place from noon until 4 PM, will feature not only local businesses, but also live music, including DJ Matt Anthony (WFPK) and the Invaders (featuring members of the Merediths). The event will feature displays, information, samples, and more from numerous businesses, and ear X-tacy will offer various sales promotions throughout the day, including 20% off on all independent releases all day, with the same discount applied to vinyl offerings during the DJ set from 12 Noon to 3 PM. Turntable giveaways, goodie bags, and other specials will be offered throughout the day.
