Instagram Your Way Through Louisville: Best of Lou

Fairly often, Louisville gives its citizens the chance to be part of something big. On July 31, Louisville Magazine’s Best of Lou event was one of these instances.

Held at Louisville’s newest nightclub, Play Dance Club, Best of Lou hosted over 1,000 attendees – All proceeds benefiting the Kentucky-Southeast Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The event’s VIPs included Coach Bobby Petrino, weatherman Kevin Harned, UofL President James Ramsey, Rep. John Yarmuth, and many other prominent Louisvillians.

Events included a silent auction, a dueling bartender contest, multiple raffles, and a very “spirited” game of spin-the-bottle (Instead of a kiss, participants received a bottle of wine with every $10 spin).

Local vendors, many of them Best of Lou nominees, brought food and samples to attendees. Local band The Pass rocked the stage at 8pm, briefly joined by rapper Jalin Roze.

Throughout the night, the club lights were on and the DJ was playing some great music to dance to (though there were few willing to shake it on the dance floor), as a giant slideshow shared all #bestoflou Instagram posts from the event, sharing experiences throughout the venue.

All in all, over 1,200 people were in attendance and the amount of money raised for the MS Society is still being calculated.

I’m about 90% sure that I took this photo on accident, but upon finding it the morning after, I felt like it was a good representation of the night – a club crowded with people and full of light.

Thanks to all of the VIPs, attendees, vendors, volunteers and sponsors for a great night. For a visual recap, check out the #bestoflou tag on Instagram.
