From now until April 25th at 5 p.m., people can submit their suggestions for naming the baby boy giraffe, born January 11, 2010. The winner will receive $500 Fly Bucks from Frontier Airlines, $50 Calistoga gift card, giraffe plush from the gift shop and a behind-the-scenes tour of the giraffe exhibit, sponsored by the Louisville Zoo (total value $810).
Guidelines for submittals include that the name be a suitable male one, and while foreign names are acceptable, the English translation must be included with the proper pronunciation.
Entrants have three ways to submit their names: online at www.louisvillezoo.org, mail your idea to the zoo at 1100 Trevilian Way, Louisville, KY 40233 or they may be dropped off at the front desk of the zoo. You can submit more than one name, but each one must be turned in separately.
Zoo officials will then choose three names from the submissions and invite the public to choose the ultimate selection by voting and donating at the zoo. All proceeds will benefit the zoo and its care of animals, as well as enhancing the zoo experience for everyone.
Winners will be notified by phone or email by May 18th, so get your entry in today! In the meantime, be sure to stop by the zoo and see the baby giraffe as he is on exhibit daily weather permitting.
For more information, including the full list of rules and guidelines, please visit the zoo’s site at: www.louisvillezoo.org.
