National Doughnut Day is one of my most favorite days. It's the one day a year I allow myself the consumption of doughnuts to my heart's content.
Shockingly, one of Louisville's favorite doughnut purveyors, Nord's Bakery, were sold out of doughnuts fairly early on this afternoon. When I called to confirm this vicious rumor a lady responded, "I guess that's what happens when you're the best!" I happen to agree with her.
Of course, you can swing by Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts today and get a free donut in honor of this blessed day. They should be offering them until the clock strikes midnight. Krispy Kreme will be doling out these sweet treats free of charge while Dunkin Donuts requires a beverage purchase. Otherwise, I checked and another Louisville favorite, Plehn's Bakery, still has doughnuts to spare.
