If you know anything about me, you know that bourbon and cigars are my two favorite food groups. If you add in some fancy gourmet fare, that’s just icing on the cake. So when a cigar shop announces a bourbon and cigar pairing dinner at a Louisville institution like Asiatique, I always want to hear more.
This Saturday night at Asiatique, J Shepherd Smoke Shop and Chef Peng Looi will join forces with Hunter Chavanne from Willett Distillery to create a bourbon-inspired five course meal that is sure to land a spot in your Citizen Bourbon Ambassador scrapbook.
Included in the $75 ticket cost are three cigars, a five course meal, a flight of Willett bourbons, and the chance to win door prizes. It’s being billed as an ABC dinner: Asian Cuisine, Bourbon, and Cigars. There will also be a cigar bar and cocktail lounge after dinner. This is an excellent value for all that is included, and it’s also a great chance to get to know three local businesses in one fun evening.
There are only 50 tickets available to this event, and they can be reserved by Calling Asiatique at 502-451-2749. Click here for details.
The menu is as follows:
Salad of grilled lemongrass shrimp, pickled young papaya and warm bacon vinaigrette
Smoked quail, daikon kim chee and butternut squash puree
Pistachio crusted salmon, gingered lentil, sautéed apricot+swiss chard and caper cream sauce
Chinese 5 spiced pork tenderloin, smashed Peruvian potato, asparagus, mango salsa and honey+garlic reduction
Coconut+caramel banana, blackberry+peppercorn compote and chai ice cream
The cigars included in the ticket price include some of my favorite brands:
Tatuaje Veroco : Wrapper- Nicaraguan Habano, Binder/Filler - Nicaragua
262 Limited Edition Revere Lonsdale : Wrapper - Nicaragua Jalapa , Binder/ Filler - Nicaragua Esteli & Condega
Room 101 Payback: Wrapper - Nicaragua Binder/ Filler - Nicaragua & Honduras
This is sure to be a fun and memorable experience. And if you don’t want your cigars you can send them my way!
