University of Wisconsin-Madison professor, Carolyn Kallenborn, will be presenting her fiber artwork in the Patio Gallery at the Jewish Community Center of Louisville (JCC). Kallenborn’s exhibit “Sanctuary” has been inspired by the improvisational and interactive altars that she has seen during her time in Oaxaca, Mexico and will be on display Aug. 23-Oct. 13. “The pieces in this show are infused with my own thoughts, sentiments and hopes. Each of the small bits of glass, beads, metal or cloth are chosen and placed to reflect the specific emotion or desire expressed within the piece,” explains Kallenborn. “The time and the attention in attaching each individual object becomes a meditation for me.” The opening reception for Carolyn Kallenborn’s “Sanctuary” is open to the public and will be held on Aug. 23, 2009 from 2pm-4pm. Artists’ work will be available for sale during the exhibit. Kallenborn will be presenting a gallery talk on Aug. 23, 2009 from 4:30pm-5:30pm and will be available for questions at that time.
