The online sales for JJ Grey and Mofro sold out Thursday and by 8 pm Friday, audiophiles were in line at Headliners to see if Will Call tickets were available. JJ Grey stopped in Louisville on his eight month tour to show the love and promote his latest full length release, Brighter Days.
Artists convey a noticeable attitude while on stage and fans can tell if the artist is having a bad day or really wants to be there. With JJ Grey and Mofro, there was no question; they really love performing, especially in Louisville. In a recent interview with Louisville.com, JJ Grey said, “Louisville is a great town for music and I always have a good time when I am there”. Grey fans in town also have a great time when JJ is in town.
The evening started with JC Brooks and Darryl Hance on stage with some killer tunes to entertain the packed house. The audience already staked claim to prime stage real estate, being so close they could get a nice look at the performers.
After a short break, all the ladies in the house screamed as JJ entered through a side door for his set. By the time Grey plugged in and Mofro was set, people were packed against the stage. The fans could tell JJ was into this show. The energy in the room was unmistakable. The passion from Grey spoke volumes to the adorning crowd as he, and Mofro played with heart.
The music itself is good, the delivery was better. JJ played in Louisville several times before, but said following the show, “this is the most fun I’ve had in a long time”.
