John Mayer has been doing a lot of talking lately. His interview with Playboy has made many waves (as he discussed Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson, and made some controversial statements about race), Billy Corgan think's "he's trying to destroy his career", as told to Rolling Stone, and he made Eonline's "What A Douche" gallery.
All of that notwithstanding, the guy is a rock star. He writes songs most musicians dream about and has the string of hits to show for it. His guitar work earned him a spot at the Eric Clapton Crossroads in 2004 - no small feat for an axe slinger. And...he still has the ability to sell concert tickets in mass volume. Not many artists venture through Freedom Hall these days.
The Battle Studies Winter Tour parks for a few hours at Freedom Hall this Saturday Night. He's bringing Michael Frante and Spearhead with him. Reviews of the tour (according to fans) are excellent and it's hard not to expect something great from a guy with his catalog and tour itinerary. The guy gets a lot of practice.
Show time is 8pm and tickets are still available.
If you're wondering what to expect, here's a vid on Mayers YouTube channel that previews is tour from last summer.
