Louisville native, Derek Anderson was a standout at the University of Kentucky, when he played basketball for the Cats, leading the team to a 1996 NCAA championship.
Anderson followed that up with an eleven year NBA career, but more recently Anderson has been working as a writer, this comes with his new book Stamina. This is the all-star’s first book and is a motivational look at the practical application of life.
In addition to writing, Anderson has been busy with the Derek Anderson foundation, a charity established by Anderson. Through his charity and in correlation with his new book, Anderson will be in Louisville June 21st- 23rd for the Victory H20 Charity Weekend, where he will attend a bowling event the 21st, a Golf event and dinner the 22nd, and a brunch on the 23rd.
In athletic news, Anderson’s alma mater Doss High School has recently named their basketball court in honor of him, this came after his induction into that school’s hall of fame in 2008.
Meanwhile, Louisville guard Peyton Siva has taken a break from his bid for the NBA to ask his girlfriend, Patience McCroskey for her hand in marriage; thus leading to the NCAA champion’s engagement.
Siva has been in Las Vegas training for an opportunity to reach the NBA recently hoping that his title ring from this year will give him the boost to have pro teams looking in his direction.
The Seattle native is a two time Big East Tournament MVP and of course a starting member of this year’s Cards team which claimed a championship against Michigan.
