Stonestreet Farm in Lexington, Ky. has already welcomed in several foals this year, but none quite like the one born at the farm Tuesday. Rachel Alexandra, the seven-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro by Lotta Kim, gave birth to her second foal, a filly by Bernardini. The filly was born at 2:30 a.m. and tipped the scales at a whopping 140 pounds, the largest foal born at the farm so far this season. In comparison, Rachel Alexandra's first foal, a colt by two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, weighed 125 pounds at birth.

Stonestreet Farm released the news of the birth through Twitter and its Facebook page, sharing several pictures of the filly. The dark bay filly sports a unique marking on her forehead that resembles a white heart (photos below).

As a three-year-old, Rachel Alexandra won the 2006 Kentucky Oaks by 20 1/4 lengths under the guidance of Calvin Borel. The following day Borel won the Kentucky Derby with longshot Mine That Bird. In a surprising move, Borel opted to ride Rachel Alexandra over the Derby winner in the Preakness Stakes two weeks later as she became the first filly to win the classic race. Rachel Alexandra took on the boys twice more (Grade 1 Haskel and Grade 1 Woodward Stakes), dominating in both. She ended her three-year-old campaign undefeated in eight starts for the year and became the first three-year-old filly to be named Horse of the Year.
