Kentucky rallies late in the second half to knock Florida out of the SEC Tournament, 74-71 [Sports]

Kentucky knocks Florida out of the SEC Tournament 74-71

This game had Terrance Jones written all over it.  With 9 rebounds, 1 steal, and oh yeah, the 15 points, Jones took charge of the offense.  The Wildcats clicked in the second half with Jones at the helm.  The Gators looked tired with 10:00 to play in the second half; an obvious result of the fast up and down action in the first half.

Kentucky took the lead at 9:54 to play and for the remainder of the second half, it was the “Big Blue” show at the New Orleans Arena.  The fans were on their feet as the calls seemingly went against Kentucky, yet were appeased when Kentucky caught a couple of breaks.

Lamb led the Cats in scoring with 16 while Teague, Davis, and Jones put up 15 each.  Michael Kidd-Gilchrist ended the contest with 10 and Miller went scoreless today.

Following the game, Florida Coach Billy Donovan was less than impressed with the officiating and felt the referees let Kentucky slide one time too many; Florida went to the charity stripe twice in the game. John Calipari seemed a little frustrated with the Cats’ efforts both yesterday and today as he looks on to tomorrow’s meeting with the winner of the Vanderbilt/Ole Miss game.  The SEC Tournament Final is set for 1:00 pm EST, tomorrow.
