If you like commercial rock and roll, there really isn't a reason that you should miss this show. A similar tale from your music oracle here, but I've had the pleasure of seeing both bands before and Kings of Leon a lot.
Having been a fan since the early days, what I wouldn't give to go back to that Roseland Ballroom show of 2005 and the early sounds they were dolling out at the time. Youth and Young Manhood & Aha Shake Heartbreak are still some of the best albums in the past ten years but as their popularity skyrocketed their sound sterilized for me. Sure 'Sex on Fire' is a banger, I managed to sneak into the Brixton Academy show in London in 2008 and had my own face melted, but over the years they've waned. That being said, their latest release, Grammy nominated Mechanical Bull, has brought back a hint of promise and their live shows always flawlessly recreate their albums' sound. Locally this is a band who's crushed Headliners, The Palace, and now will try to kick 'The Bucket' (or Yum! Center whatever you want to call it) which ironically is one of their best songs of old in case you couldn't see what I did there.
Gary Clark Jr., hopefully also needs no introduction. Fresh off a Grammy win for Best Traditional R&B Performance, a bit odd categorization really, this man wails on the guitar. I caught him at Headliners, http://www.louisville.com/content/sermon-was-indeed-delivered-it-was-only-according-gary-clark-jr-music, and he was unreal. His range really is remarkable and will deliver some bluesy soul, rock and roll, and will continue to crush more and more.
For the money, this show is is absolutely not to be missed. It will deliver, it will blow your mind, and hopefully the Kings mix it up a bit.
