This weekend, the Oxmoor Center Fashion Council held their "Fashion Rules" fall fashion show, giving the East End mall's patrons a chance to see some of the trends for the fall/winter 2012-13 season, as well as where to buy their favorite pieces. Two shows were held Saturday afternoon near the Sears wing of Oxmoor Center, the first at 1 p.m. with a repeat showing at 3 p.m.
In between each show, attendees were given opportunities to join The Club -- the mall's program for discounts, events and exclusive promotions -- enter to win a $5,000 shopping spree, and spin a wheel for a chance to win prizes, while at 4 p.m., auditions were held by the OCFC, the organization seeking out new models for future shows and promotions. Nearby, national charity City of Hope manned a table to promote their cancer awareness initiative Walking For Hope, where purchases of pink-ribboned footwear would benefit the organization and hundreds of related charities.
Participants involved in the fashion show included Macy's, Ann Taylor, Soma Intimates and American Eagle, while models from the fashion council and Heyman Talent Agency -- ranging from elementary-school aged children to working-age women; no men or boys from middle-school age forward participated -- took to the runway to strut their stuff.
As an apparent nod to the autumn equinox, Halloween costumes -- from fairies to EMTs -- graced the catwalk alongside bold-colored and sometimes retro outerwear, floral print sleepwear, and classic evening attire. Sheer fabrics turned up once more, as well, this time appearing as a white blouse with blackout panels for tween girls from American Eagle. Black and white minimalism also arrived, while sequined miniskirts added sparkle to the runway, polka dot dresses and animal print scarves bringing fun ideas to those in attendance.
