Led Zeppelin: April 25, 1977 [Downtown]

Thanks to ledzeppelin.com and the Courier-Journal, I was able to find detailed accounts of the supergroup's last night in Louisville more than 30 years ago.

SET LIST

Song Remains the Same, (Rover Intro) Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, White Summer - Black Mountainside, Kashmir, (Out On the Tiles intro), Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll

Zeppelin fans scooped up 19,400 tickets (at $8.50 a pop) in a two hour span. Official Zeppelin t-shirts sold for $5 a piece.

According to an article written by J. Adams for the Courier-Journal in May of '77, one man was arrested for successfully entering the concert early wearing a stolen security guard uniform.

Another 19-year-old woman was charged for carrying a concealed weapon after attempting to enter the show with a 45-caliber pistol in her purse.

According to Dennis Allen, a concert-goer who attended the show (and made it front row), a certain member of the band also got a little excited during the performance.

"When the band came on stage, the crowd just became a wave pushing forward in short bursts, crushing people at the wall," Allen said. "Plant threatened to stop the show if people didn't stop pushing. Some guy to my right did something to piss Mr. Plant off and to this day I have this indelible image of Robert Plant hocking a loogie on this dude's head."

I doubt anyone in Get the Led Out will have reason to shoot phlegm into Friday night's crowd, but after watching a few clips of the band, I'm excited to see what they can do with the plethora of classics Zepp produced during the late '60s and throughout the '70s.
