Long Day's Journey Into Night

Les Waters makes his Actors Theatre directorial debut with the Eugene O'Neill classic Long Day's Journey Into Night, which opens tomorrow.

Long Day's Journey Into Night will go on Oct. 9-28 at various times.  All performances are to happen in the Pamela Brown Auditorium inside of Actors Theatre, located at 316 W Main Street in downtown Louisville.

Ticket prices will depend on the day and time fo the show, with tickets on Oct. 8 and 9 as low as $24 per person.  All tickets can be purchased at the Actors Theatre box office, the Actors Theatre website, or by calling the box office at 502-584-1205.  More information on the three hour show can be found at the Actors Theatre website.

Long Day's Journey Into Night is considered to be Eugene O'Neill's finest work.  The play covers one day in the life of the Tyrones in August 1912.  Alcohol addiction is rampant in the household alongside another's morphine addiction.  During the play, each character attempts to find other people to blame for their addictions in intensifying action.  Dysfunction runs rampant with similar escalating momentum.

New Actors Theatre artistic director Les Waters directed this play.  O'Neill created Long Day's Journey Into Night and earned a posthumous Pulitzer Prize for it in 1957.

During Long Day's run, Actors Theatre is also presenting the Halloween tradition Dracula.  That production will continue until Oct. 30.
