The New Lite 106.9 (WVEZ-FM), home of the Official Radio Broadcast for Thunder Over Louisville 2011, has announced that in honor of the Derby Festival theme of SUPERFEST – meant to highlight “those cartoon, movie and comic book heroes we all know, as well as our hometown heroes from the Festival volunteers to police, fire and EMS workers,” according to the Festival – this Saturday’s broadcast will feature some special guest hosts.
Members of the Louisville Metro Police Department, Louisville Metro Fire Department, Oldham County EMS, and Harrods Creek Fire Department will serve as the station deejays for the kick-off of the Thunder broadcast this Saturday.
“We think this is a great way to tie-in a driving force in our community and bring top-of-mind awareness to how much these folks contribute to our city,” says Todd Schumacher, Vice President and Market Manager of Cox Media Group Louisville, the company that owns Lite 106.9.
“We are delighted to have our officers highlighted during this event,” continues Colonel Vince Robison of the Louisville Metro Police Department. “However, it is the citizens of our community that we serve that are our heroes as we continue to work together.”
The “Heroes” portion of the New Lite 106.9’s broadcast will air Saturday from 12pm until 3pm and will be followed by Thunder air show play-by-play and general commentary leading up to the Official Thunder Over Louisville Fireworks Soundtrack during show time. An interactive after-fireworks show featuring crowd reaction, games and give-aways will run until midnight. The entire broadcast on Lite 106.9 will be presented by Meijer.
The following people will be featured in the “Heroes” broadcast:
