Pick up and dig into local and fresh produce from the Jeffersonville Farmers Market! Why? Because local tastes better. Period. Compare an apple that was picked yesterday from a tree a few miles from you to one that was picked, waxed, boxed, shipped, delivered, and stocked at a grocery store a week after it left its tree. Homegrown goods win hands down. Here's what produce you can expect to find this week: apples, cucumbers, grapes, gourds, okra, peppers, potatoes, squash, sweet corn, tomatoes, watermelon, and zucchini. Sounds like you'll have no trouble getting your "5-a-day" from these offerings. You can also load up on local honey, coffee, jellies, ground beef, baked goods, and eggs. Start your weekly shopping at the farmers' market and build your meal plan around the goodness of local harvest and sundries. Be there on Tuesdays 3pm-6pm or make a morning of it on Saturdays from 9am-noon and enjoy live music. The market is located at the corner of Chestnut and Locust Street at the Wall Street United Methodist church in Jeffersonville, so carve out some hang time to just take in the downtown setting. Go while you can—the season ends on Oct 27.
