By Josh Cook

Thursday night was a good one for Louisville-area fighters at Bellator 30.

Four won matches during the Bellator Fighting Championships, a mixed-martial arts organization, night of fights at Fourth Street Live!

In one of the four main-card matches Louisville’s Brent Weedman (17-5-1) beat Justin “Tick Tock” McClintock in a first-round technical knockout (3 minutes, 5 seconds into the match) in a Bellator Season 4 welterweight qualifying match.

Several other Louisville-area fighters were featured in matches on the local card.

In one of those, Ron “The Monster” Sparks won a battle of Louisville undefeated heavyweight, defeating Greg Maynard in a knockout 50 seconds into the match.

Louisville’s Mike O’Donnell defeated Stoney “The Skuller” Hale by armbar submission (50 seconds into Round 2) in a middleweight match-up. In two other middleweight fights Louisville’s John Troyer defeated Josh Clark by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27), while Jeremiah Riggs defeated Louisville’s Mike “The Crazii Cajun” Fleniken by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

In another fight featuring a pair of Louisvillians, B.J. Ferguson defeated Thomas “TJ” Barber in the featherweight division via an arm-bar in the second round.

In the night’s special feature fight Bryan “The Beast” Baker, who is currently battling cancer, defeated Jeremy Horn in a unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).

Meanwhile in the Bellator Season 3 bantamweight semifinals Zach Makovsky defeated Bryan Goldsby by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) and Ed West beat Jose Vega by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).

Corrections

Justin Lemke vs Jason Guida & Jameel Massouh vs Nick Mamalis were not on the Bellator 30 card at 4th Street. Those were fights held the previous week in Milwaukee. Also, there is no mention of the fight between two locals, TJ Barber vs BJ Ferguson. Ferguson defeated Barber via armbar in the second round. Otherwise, thanks for writing about the event. I am an avid MMA fan and I was born and raised in Louisville. These guys deserve as much media as they can get. If you ever need info on any local events or fighters just let me know. I cover most of the events in the state of Kentucky. http://cagecraze.com/news/event-news/mma-event-coverage/2010/09/23/bella...
