Local singer-songwriter Saredren Wells releases debut disc [Music]

Print
Louisville is For Lovers has been a successful venture for the past decade, but the compilation of the same name released their final CD in the series with the 2010 version. Now, however, the newly formed Louisville is for Lovers record label has emerged, and local musician Saredren Wells has just released his debut CD Memories Are Hunting Horns... on the new label.

To celebrate, Saredren Wells, The Mack, and Roadie from the band Arnnett Hollow will share the stage for an album release show Friday, May 14th on the rooftop garden of Glassworks. Doors open at 7 P.M. and tickets are $5. The Mack is also celebrating the release of their CD Lazy Bones.

In addition, Wells has just made a video for the song To Live in Dreams and Memories, one of the best songs on the album. Opening with For Wes Andersen (or you), a brief acoustic and strings-filled tune featuring a choral section, you get the feeling this is not your typical pop record. The record is a mix of understated guitar and vocals mixed with some nice string arrangements. The title track is probably the catchiest on the album and includes a nod to his hometown.

This is no roll down the windows for a Summer road trip sort of record, but if you like cerebral, folkish singer-songwriters like Damien Rice and Bon Iver, it is definitely worth checking out.

Memories are Hunting Horns... was released Tuesday May 11th on CD and LP (yes vinyl) and is available at ear X-tacy and other fine local retailers.
