Print

One of the world's best known ballets, Swan Lake, is set to be performed by the Louisville Ballet on Friday and Saturday.

Swan Lake performances will take place in Whitney Hall inside the Kentucky Center for the Arts, located at 501 West Main Street in downtown Louisville.  The first performance will take place on Friday, April 9, at 8 p.m.  Additional performances will take place on Satuday, April 10, at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Tickets for the shows range in price from $25 to $95 and can be purchased by going to the Kentucky Center website at www.kentuckycenter.org or by calling 502-584-7777.

Swan Lake tells the story of Princess Odette, who is the victim of a spell cast by an evil sorcerer.  Due to the spell, she turns into a swan at midnight every night.  Despite this, she continues to strive for her true love.

Bruce Simpson, after Marius Petipa and Nicholas Berisoff, provided the choreography.  Music, written by P.I. Tchaikovsky, will be provided from the Louisville Orchestra.

Swan Lake is also presented by Hillard Lyons.  For more information on the Louisville Ballet, go to www.louisvilleballet.org.  For more information on the Lousville Orchestra, go to www.louisvilleorchestra.org
