  • "Democratic Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo conceded in the U.S. Senate race at 10:15 p.m., saying that he had called Attorney General Jack Conway to congratulate him on a “very tough and well-fought” campaign. His wife Allison, blinked back tears as she held their infant daughter. However, Mongiardo would not say whether he will help Conway in the fall campaign against Republican nominee Rand Paul of Bowling Green." Sounds like some party needs a unity rally. • "Chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Sen. Robert Menendez, said he believes Paul is better for Democrats to face in the general election. He said there is a stark contrast between Rand and his opponent, state Attorney General Jack Conway." [Courier-Journal]
  • Democrat Greg Fischer and Republican Hal Heiner cruised to easy primary election victories Tuesday, setting up a battle this November in the Louisville mayor's race. Heiner, an engineer and Metro Council member, captured 67 percent of the vote, while Fischer, at 45 percent, had more than twice as many votes as either of his closest rivals — council members David Tandy and Jim King — in a crowded Democratic field.[Courier-Journal]
