  • "Thanks to late contributions from supporters, Richie Farmer's 2007 campaign for agriculture commissioner ended with about $56,000 in the bank and since then has paid nearly that amount to Farmer or a new foundation that bears his name, a review of campaign records show. Half that amount, $28,000, was donated to the Richie Farmer Charitable Foundation Inc., which a director said was formed in April 2009 primarily to provide college scholarships. Another $9,750 was paid to Farmer, more than 15 months after the election, for 650 copies of his autobiography, which a campaign official said were given to supporters as gifts. The campaign also paid his cell phone bills, totaling $3,114, for an 18-month period after the election. And nearly $15,000 went to reimburse Farmer for travel and meals, even though he was reimbursed regularly during the campaign for such expenses, records show." [Courier-Journal]
  • "Speculation abounds on Indiana governor Mitch Daniels‘s potential presidential run, but perhaps the “will he? won’t he?” discussion about Daniels has overshadowed another Hoosier with aspirations for 2012. Representative Mike Pence recently beat former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee in a Values Voters straw poll." [WFPL]
