  • "Whooping cough continues to rise in Northern Kentucky, and is a significant problem in Indiana. According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health, there have been 126 cases so far this year, as of Nov. 18, in the Northern Kentucky Area Development District, compared with 36 in all of 2009. There have been 16 cases so far this year in the Barren River district, compared with 10 last year, and two in the Gateway district, compared with five last year. Kentucky health officials said there hasn’t been a problem in the district that includes Louisville...'I find this outbreak particularly concerning because pertussis can be prevented with a vaccine,' said Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Gregory Larkin." Editorlal aside: Stop listening to Jenny McCarthy (she's a Playmate, not a doctor) and vaccinate your kids.
