  • "Upon Gov. Steve Beshear’s election to a second term last month, he said he planned to meet with Senate President David Williams, his vanquished foe, to talk about areas where the two can agree in an effort to press forward on needed reforms in the state. But five weeks later, on the eve of Beshear’s second inauguration, the two haven’t breathed a word to one another since that election night call when Williams told Beshear the election was over and that he and Senate Republicans would work with Beshear where they could find commonality." [Courier-Journal]

  • "Christian Watford's buzzer-beating shot Saturday night put Indiana right back on the basketball map. He never even got to see whether the buzzer-beating 3-pointer counted. With students pouring onto the court and officials scrambling to reach the scorer's table for a replay review, Watford's teammates and Indiana's fans didn't even bother waiting for the call. They already knew Indiana's 73-72 upset of No. 1 Kentucky would hold up." [ESPN]
