The essence is this: Considering the 2009 economy, the demand for canned goods and other supplies at food pantries is up. Way up. So in 2008, Chris and Lynn Jaska, photographers based in British Columbia, decided to donate one canned good to a shelter or food pantry for every comment they could collect on their photography blog. The idea caught on fairly quickly and has spread throughout the States and Canada. So far in 2009, forty five photographers have jumped on the Cans For Comments wagon and are promoting the campaign through mid-December.
