The Louisville Review to print all-Kentucky issue in honor of Poet Laureate, Maureen Morehead [Books]

Print

This winter season, The Louisville Review will crown itself with laurel.  In the same fashion as the illustrious Greeks of old, the local literary magazine will don its poetic leaves; yes, the merriest wreath this Holiday will be one of words.  In honor of Kentucky’s Poet Laureate, Maureen Morehead, The Louisville Review will feature compositions from working writers residing in or native to our beloved Bluegrass State.

Established in 1976, The Louisville Review has been committed to publishing the best of the written word for readers locally, nationwide and abroad.  Currently housed at Spalding University, The Louisville Review has published such well-established writers as poets David Ray and Michael Burkhead, as well as New York Times Bestseller fiction writer, Ursula Hegi.  But this local mag does not limit themselves solely to big names and banner titles, The Louisville Review is also dedicated to fleshing out talent from burgeoning voices and juxtaposing the work of new faces with the words of old favorites.  Each poem and story submitted to The Louisville Review is judged based on its own intrinsic merit regardless of the author’s history – whether a professional writer or a dark horse.

In that same style of un-biased opinion, submissions for the all-Kentucky winter edition will be accepted through tomorrow, November 1st.  State raised writers can offer works of poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction and drama by visiting www2.spalding.edu/louisvillereview/submissions.  Participants are advised to use the comments section of this webpage to denote that they are a Kentucky Writer.  Collect your best scribblings, sharpen your quill and search your creative fountains for the words to weave your own wreath of laurel.

Any questions about the submission process or the all-Kentucky issue should be sent to louisvillereview@spalding.edu

About Erin Day
I currently spend most of my days sequestered in a dark and secret room projecting IMAX films for an adoring public. In my spare time I read books (a lot) and contemplate ever more devious ways to become a professional Blacksmith. I love words, paper, fashion, trees, Charlie Chaplin, useless knick-knacks and my beloved turquoise 1994 Ford Ranger - Daniel. I totally believe in the Loch Ness Monster. Books are culture; my goal is to tell you a story.
