Now that you've enjoyed another outstanding Thunder, I smell Derby Pies in your future. It may be too late to train and enter this year's Triple Crown of Running, including this weekend's Kentucky Derby Marathon and Mini-marathon, but it's not too late to blow the dust off your New Year's Resolutions, and head on over to the Louisville Zoo for fun and fitness.

 

Plan your recuperation from the indulgence of Derby and sign up for the Throo the Zoo 5k Run/Walk on May 8, 2010.

Register now through May 5th at Fleet Feet Sports, 1500 Bardstown Rd., or register online for only $25.  Late registration is $30 on May 6-7 at Fleet Feet Sports between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., or $35 on race day, Saturday, May 8th in the Zoo bus parking from 7:00 a.m. until 7:45 p.m.

Runners, walkers, and general animal lovers are welcome, including the whole family!  Kids in strollers or children walking without race numbers are free with race registration.

Your registration fee includes healthy post-race refreshments, door prizes, and FREE zoo admission for the day.  And, the first 1,500 participants will receive a commemorative Throo the Zoo 5k T-shirt.  All proceeds from the race benefit the Louisville Zoo.

Join the Norton Healthcare Get Healthy Walking Club for Zoo Walkers.  To become a member of this free program, call (502) 629-1234.  Zoo walkers can meet to walk Monday - Saturday between 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., before zoo hours, between March 1st and October 30th.  Twilight hours are added in June and July on Thursdays and Fridays from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., after zoo hours.

Go ahead and enjoy that Derby Pie, then pull yourself up by your shoestrings, and get moving at the Louisville Zoo.
