Since I became a regular contributor in April, 30 articles of mine have appeared on this Web site. At best they've encouraged family drunkenness, looking at cadavers and being gay-friendly. At worst, they've encouraged volunteering, supporting cover bands and seeing our aging mayor saddle up in bicycle shorts. Furthermore many of these articles were mistake-laden pieces, fueled by a caffeine rush and a desire to get on with whatever it is that I do. Here then are corrections and apologies for my more egregious errors. (Of course none of these mistakes seem as appalling as lifting an entire paragraph from another source and running it unattributed in a New York Times op-ed column. But The New York Times doesn't find much wrong with that approach to journalism, so neither will I. Hopefully readers will be as understanding about my indiscretions as The Times is about its own.) Captain PepperJack's Aero Bistro serves mediocre food with horrible service--but that is ok The fine folks over at the Louisville Restaurant Forum took offense to my negative review of Captain PepperJack's Aero Bistro. Apparently restaurants are entitled to a Just Opened status during which they can charge full price but provide horrible service and mediocre food. During this unspecified period, diners are not entitled to complain publicly about their experience or mention that many restaurants have lengthy soft openings to allow them to work out the kinks rather than conducting their cruel experiments on hungry paying customers. Forest Fest not worth attending That I included Forest Fest in my articles on Louisville's festivals in May and a weekend preview may have implied it was worth attending. My neighbor went to Forest Fest and said that was not the case. Louisville.com regrets the mistake. Pink Door might be gay friendly, but that's probably true of many vacant spaces Sometimes I write about places I haven't visited. Louisville.com's readers usually are better served when that happens. In Ditch the stereotype: Louisville is gay friendly, I listed Pink Door, a noodles and tea lounge in the Douglas Loop area, as one such place. My research into Pink Door consisted of a homosexual (self-identified) suggesting it as a gay-friendly restaurant that he'd been to and me then Googling "Pink Door Louisville gay," which corroborated his report. I neglected to confirm, however, that Pink Door was still open. When I went there a few days after my article appeared, it was obvious it was not, although it was less clear whether the closing is permanent or temporary. Louisville.com regrets the mistake. Crack about your mother undeserved The headline for my preview for Mother's Day weekend was "D.L. Hughley, Tania James and yo mama highlight Louisville's weekend activities." Yo mama disappointed.
