I can still hear his booming raspy voice “OH YEEEEAH!” The “Macho Man” Randy Savage and ex-husband to Louisville-born “Miss Elizabeth” Ann Hulette has died today of a heart attack. Savage reportedly suffered the heart attack while driving down a highway in Tampa, Florida. Savage lost control of his Jeep Wrangler swerved across traffic and slammed head-on into a tree. His wife Lynn Payne was also in the car and survived with “minor injuries.” It is still unclear as to Savage’s exact cause of death.
Randy Savage is best known for his exciting work as a professional wrestler for the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling between 1984 and 1999. Savage is also well-remembered for his flavorful “Snap into a Slim Jim” advertisements in the mid-to-late 90’s.
Savage’s ex-wife Elizabeth was born here in Louisville, KY and passed away in 2003. Aside from her stunning good looks, “Miss Elizabeth” became famous for her work as a manager in the professional wrestling world, especially her role as manager for the Macho Man himself.
Some radicals are jokingly hinting that Savage’s death is the first of the ‘Rapture’ in recent news. Many details are sure to continue to come out about Savage’s death, but no one can deny that it can be considered untimely in the least. Even those of us who didn’t grow up adoring pro wrestling couldn’t hide from the Macho Man’s influence on pop culture which undoubtedly will reemerge with news of his passing. Rest in peace Mr. Savage.
