In the bountiful array of children’s literature, no author is better known and respected than the Greek story teller, Aesop. A former slave who was physically disfigured and suffered from a speech impediment, Aesop possessed a rare and valuable knowledge: he could read and write. By his wit and clever turn of phrase, he was freed by his master and became known for his story telling. Using animals as characters, he served up life lessons and morals in a tasty and digestible cupcake of a story. After more than 2,500 years, his commentary on human behavior and insightful truths on subjects ranging from psychology and politics to spirituality, education, health and well-being, are still relevant and entertaining in the twenty-first century. In Madcap’s production, Aesop is an old man recalling three of our best-loved stories re-told by a cast of puppets-and you! Will there be a giant puppet? Of course! Following the performance Aesop will stay to discuss his animal friends and answer questions. Performances are at 11 AM & 1 PM on Saturday, January 31 and at 1 PM & 3 PM on Sunday, February 1.
