Still looking for a gift, but thought the Mayans would handle it? Alas, unless your name is Jack Van Impe, Christmas is still coming, and if you still haven’t found that special gift for your special someone, you’ve no reason to fear: The MAMMOTH Holiday Bazaar will shake the earth with last-minute ideas this Saturday, along with libations and entertainment for everyone to enjoy, no matter the state of affairs.
The bazaar, once known as A Very Portland X-mas, will be held at The Mammoth, a Civil War-era storage facility and art space on 744 S. 13th St., from noon to 8 p.m. Dec. 22. Food and beverages will be available while attendees explore unique offerings from various vendors. Musical entertainment will be provided by Colin Fien, who will perform a one-hour set from 4 to 5 p.m., followed by the DJs of Your Local Record Show from 5 p.m. until the end of the event. Attendees at the bazaar can also have their special gifts wrapped, preventing one less headache from occurring.
For those who might be new to The Mammoth, the art space was acquired by Aron Conaway and Hallie Jones in 2005, where they have recently established a residence within the 90,000 sq. ft. facility once conceived as a means to store medical supplies. The couple is also owners of North End Investments, LLC and Nelligan Hall, a 4,000 sq. ft. historic social club in Portland that currently houses an art studio complex. The goal of The Mammoth is to build a sustainable co-op space for the creative class in Louisville to utilize as they see fit, including as a residence if necessary.
