We are currently in round two of the college division of the “great” mascot challenge, currently the mascots remaining are the Bellarmine Knight, the McKendree Bearcat, and the Indiana University Southeast Grenadier. The winner amongst these three will go on to face the winner of the High School division, the Doss Dragon.

On with the contest…

The Bellarmine Knight vs. the McKendree Bearcat vs. The Indiana University Southeast Grenadier

To determine the winner of the college division we have a triple threat matchup, that opens with the Knight and Grenadier joining forces as they relate to each other in terms of occupation and general attitude, this results in the Bearcat running away from the duo. Left is the Grenadier and the Knight, but at the end of the day the Grenadier is equipped with a musket while the Knight has a sword. It’s not tough to see who’s got the edge there.

Winner: The Indiana University Southeast Grenadier

As the Grenadier raises his arms in victory a challenger approaches the high school mascot champion, the Doss Dragon.

The Indiana University Southeast Grenadier vs. The Doss Dragon

Here we have champion vs. champion as the two competitors square off. It’s been a longer journey for the dragon who has had to face more competition. Meanwhile the Grenadier is coming off a triple threat battle only minutes earlier. As the Grenadier reaches for his musket, the Dragon torches it and well, that’s pretty much how the rest of the match up goes. A valiant effort from the Grenadier but the Dragon is just too much to handle for the warrior from New Albany.

Winner: The Doss Dragon

Keep in mind, this who tournament is just to get everybody psyched about the football season, both college and high school so get out there and support your mascot and the team they represent.

About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for Louisville.com for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
