There is a long tradition among American singer/songwriters, and that is to adopt the life of a roving troubadour. Mason Jennings is the latest artist to carry on that deeply rooted tradition. He is a man with a soulful voice and heartbreak etched on his bones. He sings of love and loss, the two most human experiences we can have. But lyrically, he often can’t help but let his well-read mind drift into the historical and literary tapestries that decorate the inside of his brain. In fact, his latest album Always Been, is a reference to Patti Smith’s 2010 memoir Just Kids.
Currently signed to Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records, Jennings has toured and recorded tirelessly since releasing his debut album in 1997. And has put out over 20 official or independently released albums or EP’s since then. Continuing on has endless trek around this great country of ours, Jennings will be performing tonight, May 8th at Headliners, tickets are $20, and the show starts at 8 PM.
